Research published this week by the Federation of Small Businesses, shows that only a small percentage of small businesses have preparations in place for the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Results show that over a third of small businesses have not yet started preparing for GDPR, while a further third have only started discussing the preparations. A mere 8% of small businesses surveyed have completed preparations for the new data protection regulations. in the early stages of preparations. Only eight per cent of small businesses have completed their preparations.

UK Information Commissioner, Elizabeth Denham said: “Research suggests the SME sector is less prepared than others for the changes. We know that many small businesses are keen to get it right, but with so much misinformation out there it’s difficult for them to know what’s right and what’s not.”
