ISO 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. It’s a set of requirements those laboratories use to show that they operate a quality management system and that they’re technically competent to do the work that they do.

The laboratories that comply with ISO 17025 also operate in accordance with ISO 9001 and can implement a single quality system that meets the requirements of both Standards. But this does not apply vice versa. Accreditation according to ISO 17025 is not the same as being certified against ISO 9001.

Quadra has been involved in working alongside numerous laboratories to develop and implement ISO 17025, as there are many benefits of being accredited including:

  • Increase of the Laboratory’s prestige, as they will be internationally recognised to the standard
  • Provide documents which are valid, and customers can trust the level of output
  • Assurance that the laboratory equipment is suitable for the measurement and frequently checked. ISO 17025 reduces the need for conducting supplier audits as the laboratory will be audited yearly by a third party
  • Better quality data that makes operations more efficient and effective
